MARIENTAL: A 46-year-old woman was found dead outside her house in the Gibeon village on Monday.
Gibeon is located about 60 kilometres south-west of Mariental.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Hardap Region reported on Monday that a family member of the deceased, identified as Anna Katrina Jossop, informed police about the discovery at about 07h15 this morning.
Detective Inspector Samuel Gariseb of NamPol in Mariental told Nampa that the deceased person suffered from epilepsy, and the police suspect that the disease might have caused her sudden death.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness or convulsions.
“We are not sure what caused her death, but we suspect it is epilepsy. A post-mortem will be conducted on her body to determine the actual cause of death,” said Gariseb.
Her next of kin have already been informed about her death.
