WINDHOEK: German Ambassador to Namibia Onno Hueckmann yesterday said Namibians should pass the stage of talking about reparation and concentrate more on reconciliation.
Germany regrets the atrocities committed by the Germans, but now is the time to concentrate more on reconciliation, he said while speaking during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hage Geingob in the capital.
The Ambassador said the German government has invested Euro 700 million (approximately N.dollars 8,4 billion) in Namibia since Independence, which means the two governments have made progress in their bilateral relations.
Hueckmann then noted that he will work hard to see to it that the remains of Namibians who perished in the 1904-1908 war are repatriated in a dignified manner.
On his part, Geingob said people cannot be prevented from speaking about reparation, adding that people died during the war and it is their democratic right to talk about it.
