WINDHOEK: Four men were apprehended by the City Police early Wednesday morning, less than 12 hours after they allegedly burgled two houses in the Otjomuise residential area.
The suspects were arrested whilst trying to sell their loot along Monte Christo Road in the Havana informal settlement in the capital.
They are said to have broken into the houses on Tuesday evening, stealing various items including clothes, kitchen utensils, a welding machine, an electric drill and gas cylinder.
One of the suspects is a mere 16-years-old.
One of the victims, Florence Skrywer, was clearly happy when the City Police informed her that her stolen items were recovered, and commended the City Police for their swift reaction.
Skrywer told Nampa that she left the house last night, and upon returning around 08h00 this morning, discovered that it was broken into. The value of her stolen items is estimated at around N.dollars 1 200.
Another victim, Good Bopoto’s electrical tools were also recovered from the same group.
Bopoto was also happy about the recovery, saying he uses the tools to generate an income as a handyman.
“Should it not have been recovered, it would have set me back at least N.dollars 2 000,” he told this agency.
The suspects are expected to appear in court this Friday.
