Foreign Ministry spokesperson Stratos Efthymiou, in response to a journalist’s question regarding a statement made by the spokesperson of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, stated the following:
“Yet again, an official spokesperson for Turkey, the country that invaded and continues to illegally occupy part of Cyprus, is blatantly distorting facts and statements.
The truth is, we would be surprised if this weren’t the case.
Turkey should at least respect this sad 43rd anniversary of the onslaught of operation Attila, the tragic experience of thousands of Greek Cypriot refugees, missing and victims of Turkey’s policy, as well as the Turkish Cypriots who were driven into the dark night of military rule.”
