WINDHOEK: Five people burnt beyond recognition after the shack caught fire during the early morning hours in Havana Informal Settlement in the capital on Saturday.
It is suspected at the majority of the victims are women, Namibia Police (NamPol)’s Head of Public Relations Division Deputy Commission Edwin Kanguatjivi confirm this to Nampa.
The incident is reported took place between 4h00 and 5h00 in morning and by the time the City of Windhoek Emergengy services arrived no one could survive.
He said one dog was also burnt in the incident, however the cause of the incident is unknown.
Their names will be released once their next of kin informed. Police investigations continue..
In a separate incident, a male security guard was found dead at Woermaan Block shopping centre in Clemens Kapuuo street in Katutura at about 06h00 on Saturday.
According to Kaguatjivi, the man was found with the pants in the knees and the number of condoms were found in the premises.
