AN Exeter city centre hotel has been successfully sold to its first viewer.
Based on Richmond Road, the Bendene Hotel was sold by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
The Grade-II listed building sits a short walk from the city’s main high street.
The extensive property has traded as a successful hospitality business for many years and has 16 letting rooms, a private owner’s apartment, reception area, breakfast room and outdoor swimming pool.
The business sold off a guide price of £850,000.
The new owner is adding the Bendene to their existing portfolio of hotels which includes sites in London, Brighton and Bournemouth.
Stephen Champion a business agent at Christie & Co’s Exeter office who handled the sale said: “This hotel has always enjoyed strong leisure and commercial trade due to its excellent location within the city centre.
“We are seeing high levels of demand for hotels within the Exeter area, as demonstrated by Bendene Hotel selling to the first viewer.
“Christie & Co has successfully sold a high number of hotels in the first half of 2016 and we expect to see strong demand for quality hotels in the South West region continue throughout the rest of the year.”
