The European Council (EC) has announced the launch on July 16 of European Union military training mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) to contribute to EU’s comprehensive approach and security sector reform in the country.
Based in Bangui, the country’s capital, the mission will operate for an initial period of two years under the command of Gen. Eric Hautecloque-Raysz from France.
“Following up an EU military advisory mission (EUMAM RCA), EUTM RCA will work towards modernised, effective, inclusive and democratically accountable Central African Armed Forces (FACA),” the EC said in a press release.
“It will provide strategic advice to the Central African Republic’s Ministry of Defence and the general staff, as well as education to officers and non-commissioned officers, and training to the FACA.”
