Ethiopia Promotes Livestock Sector at Beijing Business Forum

BEIJING — The Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing hosted the Ethiopian Livestock Value Chains Experience Sharing and Business Dialogue Forum today, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation and investment in Ethiopia’s livestock sector.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event aimed to showcase the sector’s critical role in Ethiopia’s economy and its potential for growth. Ambassador Tefera Derbew, in his keynote address, outlined the government's strategic efforts to modernize the livestock value chain, boost productivity, and ensure sustainability.

Senior Advisor Alemayehu Mekonnen from the Ministry of Agriculture's Office of the State Minister for Livestock and Fisheries detailed these initiatives further. Kargbo Stephen, UNIDO Representative for the Regional Office in China, shared insights from his experiences in both Ethiopia and China, underscoring the collaborative potential.

In conclusion, Ambassador Tefera encouraged Chinese investors and livestock-product importers to explore opportunities in Ethiopia. He highlighted the significant market access within and surrounding Ethiopia, the high quality of Ethiopian organic livestock products, and the attractive incentives available for investors.
