WINDHOEK: The DTA of Namibia’s youth league has nominated McHenry Venaani for the party’s presidential position.
Earlier this year, current DTA president Katuutire Kaura announced his decision to retire and vacate the position he has held since 1998.
DTA Youth League Secretary-General Bensen Katjirijova announced the youth league’s national executive committee’s decision to nominate the party’s current Secretary-General (SG), Venaani for the position at a media briefing held here today.
The position will be contested during the party’s elective congress for which an exact date is yet to be decided on by the DTA’s executive committee.
The party’s last congress was held in October 2008.
The 35-year-old Venaani informed Nampa earlier this year that he will contest his party’s presidential position as he is ‘the right candidate to change opposition politics in the country’.
