BLOEMFONTEIN, SOUTH AFRICA, Nov 19 (NNN-SABC) — Thousands of people from Bloemfontein and surrounding areas descended on Free State stadium here Wednesday to take part in a Pray for Rain gathering.
The severe drought conditions have begun to take their toll across the province, and this is without a doubt the same conditions being experienced throughout the country.
The facilitators of the prayer session explained and made it clear that there would be no speech or sermon but the floor was made available to everyone who wanted to pray.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Cape province Department of Agriculture has set aside more than 60 million Rand to provide relief to drought-stricken farmers.
A Member of the Executive Council (MEC) of the province, Mlibo Qhoboshiyane, made the announcement at the launch of ploughing season at Elliotdale.
Affected areas in Eastern Cape Province include the Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi and some few parts of the O.R Tambo districts. — NNN-SABC
