First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe will on Wednesday, 07 April 2021, deliver the keynote address at the My Walk My Soul initiative’s school shoe handover at the Khatlamping Primary School in Tembisa Township, Johannesburg.
Dr Motsepe will undertake this engagement in her capacity as Patron of the South African Civil Society for Women’s, Adolescents’ and Children’s Health (SACSoWACH).
The My Walk My Soul initiative is an innovative partnership between Netcare and Adcock Ingram Critical Care in collaboration with The Pink Forum.
The initiative converts used, uncontaminated PVC intravenous drip bags, oxygen masks and associated tubing into shiny new and durable school shoes, made from 100% recycled material.
Tomorrow’s event will see the handover of 900 school shoes to learners of Khatlamping Primary School.
The event will also see the unveiling of the second phase of a newly renovated block of classrooms by The Pink Forum.
The refurbished classrooms will provide social support services, leadership training, entrepreneurial training, career guidance, art training and indoor/outdoor gardening training to young learners.
The Pink Forum, is a youth-centred, non–profit organisation working in Tembisa and Kempton Park in the Gauteng province.
The Forum aims to respond to a number of socio-economic challenges confronted by youths living in disadvantaged communities.
