The police reported that the suspect allegedly shot the two with a pistol after he found them seated in a car at the Omafo settlement’s Atlantic Flats on Valentine’s Day.
They died instantly.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the region, Sergeant Kaume Iitumba said the suspect surrendered himself to the police at Ohangwena immediately after killing the two.
The two deceased persons were named as Selma Nalooliwa Imbili from the Eembo village, also in the Ohangwena Region, and Mateus Francisco Tavares Yuye, 39, an Angolan national.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the two had a secret love affair.
The suspect will appear in court at Ohangwena on Monday.
In a separate incident, the Ohangwena Police arrested a 40-year-old man stabbed his father to death at the Oshaango village in the Ohangwena Region at about 03h00 on Saturday.
The suspect allegedly killed his 75-year-old father in an open space inside their homestead.
Iitumba told Nampa that the suspect also tried to attack his sister, but she fled and reported the matter to the neighbours.
The murder weapon remains unknown, but, according to Iitumba, the police found a hoe, panga and an oryx horn at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Ndemoongela “Mbishi” Ngweda. The next of kin of the two Namibian deceased were already informed, and police investigations continue.
