KEETMANSHOOP: The Directorate of Education in the Karas Region and the Office of the Governor will host a consultative conference in April to discuss ways in which to improve the region’s performance in education.
This will be the first-ever regional indaba on education to be held in Karas.
It will take place in Keetmanshoop during the first week of April this year, and is expected to run for three days.
The Deputy Director of Education in the Karas Region, Celi Mostert told Nampa in an interview today that the indaba will map the way forward for the achievement of better results, particularly for Grades 10 and 12 learners.
Mostert said the conference will bring together all stakeholders in education, including business people, especially from the Skorpion Zinc Mine, Namdeb and the Rosh Pinah Mine to discuss matters affecting education.
Earlier this month, Karas Governor Bernardus Swartbooi proposed that teaching hours be extended in the region, also in efforts to improve Grades 10 and 12 results.
