Deputy Mayor of Umzinyathi District Municpality to face more charges

_: Deputy Mayor of Unzinyathi District Municipality, Felamandla Mkhize (58) and Mkhonzeni Ntuli (37) are due to appeared on 5 September 2012 in the Dundee Magistrates’ Court for the murder of NFP councilor Isaac Nhlebela (48) they were remanded in custody until 10 September. Both are still in custody for the killing of Bongani Shelembe (53) who was killed at Msinga area in May 2012.

Councilor Nhlebela was shot and killed in his vehicle on 6 July 2012 at 9h30 along Dundee -Nquthu road. His two sons were not injured during the attack.

The same suspects will appear today, 6 September 2012 in the Msinga Magistrates’ Court for other two counts of attempted murder cases. In the first case Isaac Nhlebela opened a case of attempted murder at Nsinga police station in April 2011 after he was attacked and shot by unknown people. He did not sustain any injuries but his car was damaged from the driver’s side. The second case was opened at Msinga police station in May 2009 by Thulani Mhlongo who was a Msinga Municipal Corporate Services Manager.

He was driving along the road with his friends when they were attacked and shot by unknown people. They sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies and were taken to hospital for treatment. Provincial Task Team made a breakthrough this week when they linked the two suspects to all these cases.
