KEETMANSHOOP: The construction of the community market that started June this year in Karasburg is progressing well and everything is going according to plan.
After the hotel owner sold the facility to venture into other businesses, the Kalkfontein Hotel in Karasburg is revamped and turned into a community market as residents have no official place to do business there.
Contractor Abraham Johannes Jooste of A J Jooste Builders told Nampa upon enquiry Wednesday that the project is expected to be completed in 2013, but could not give the exact date.
He noted that the project have five structures that are all under construction at the moment.
These involve the renovation of the old building and the construction of extra structures to suit the community market.
The project will cost about N.dollars 26 million, and there are currently 60 workers in total.
The building was bought by the Namibia Development Corporation (NDC), in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, to promote and empower Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). Karasburg is situated some 210 kilometres south of Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region.
