OTJIWARONGO: A 25-year-old Chinese woman died on landing at the Windhoek Eros Airport, following birth complications in the Grootfontein Private Hospital.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations’ Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb told Nampa in an interview on Saturday that Ji Tingting could not deliver her baby on her own, and subsequently received a caesarean operation by a private medical doctor in Grootfontein, where she lived and did business.
“After the caesarean operation, her medical doctor realised that she was weak, and referred her to Windhoek for further medical attention,” said Khairabeb.
Ji was flown to Windhoek the same day, but died on arrival at the Windhoek Eros Airport, explained Khairabeb.
The Otjozondjupa police chief said the baby boy is doing well under special medical attention at the same Grootfontein hospital.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed, and an inquest docket has been opened to investigate the cause of Ji’s death.
According to her passport, Ji was born in Shandong, China, and arrived in Namibia on 29 January 2012.
