BTEICH PURSUES HIS VISIT TO WASHINGTON

Minister of Economy and Trade, Mansour Bteish, pursued his visit to the US capital, Washington, chairing the Lebanese delegation to the meetings of the World Bank and the International Fund.

In this context, Bteish met with the Assistant Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, Christopher Jarvis, with talks reportedly touching on the financial and monetary reforms that the government intends to undertake.

On the other hand, the Lebanese delegation met with IFC’s Vice President for the Middle East and Africa, Sergio Pimenta, in the presence of the Regional Director for Industry, Manufacturing, and Agribusiness Services for Middle East and Africa at IFC, Mary-Jean Moyo, with talks centering on the possibility of funding a number of projects for some sectors in Lebanon.

The delegation also met with the Board of Directors Executive Dean and Executive Director of World Bank Group, Hassan Mirza, who stressed “the desire for serious cooperation with Lebanon,” calling for the formation of a cohesive team by the government to set priorities and follow-up on projects with the World Bank according to an economic vision to be implemented.
