WINDHOEK: Namibian paralympian Reginald Benade’s participation in the 2012 London Paralympic Games came to an end when he ended sixth out of 11 athletes in the discus throw event on Monday.
Benade managed to throw 37.28 metres (m) – his Season’s Best throw. Sebastian Ernst Klaus Dietz from Germany won the Men’s Discus Throw-F35/36 event with a throw of 38.54m, followed by Oleksii Pashkov from Ukraine with 37.89m and China’s Wenbo Wang (37.87m).
The Namibian won a bronze medal in the 2008 Paralympic Games staged in Beijing, China.
Meanwhile, Namibian visually-impaired sprinter Ananias Shikongo will compete in the Heats of the 200m race of the T11 category on Monday at 22h16 local time.
Shikongo runs with guide Even Tjiviju.
They will run in Heat 3 of 5 against Chinese and Brazilian runners.
