Bassil from Chile calls for expats to support Lebanon

NNA – Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Gibran Bassil, is currently on a visit to South America. Following Uruguay, the Minister stopped in Chile, where he met with his counterpart, Heraldo Munoz, and agreed on strengthening bilateral ties on various levels.

The hour long meeting between the two Foreign Ministers focused on current crises plaguing the Middle East and the issue of terrorism. In a press conference following the meeting, Bassil asserted that work was underway to facilitate visas between both countries, and starting direct flights between Lebanon and Chile.

The Chilean Foreign Minister said he was willing to bolster bilateral ties in the field of security. He also revealed his willingness to visit Lebanon in upcoming year.

Minister Bassil separately gave a talk at the Central University of Chile, where he met with the Lebanese community. He urged expats to take part in projects back home in order to salvage Lebanon, stressing the importance of preserving their mother-tongue.
