WINDHOEK: Bank Windhoek has donated N.dollars 10 000 to the Henties Bay Lions Club.
The money will be used for various community projects.
In a media statement issued here on Wednesday, Bank Windhoek communications’ practitioner Toivo Mvula said the donation forms part of N.dollars 120 000 raised through the Bank Windhoek Golf Day in Aid of Welfare, held in September at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.
The Lions Club will use the funds to continue with projects such as ‘Nurses on Wheels’, which provides basic medical services to community members such as testing blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels.
Other projects are the ‘Blind Library’, which assists community members with visual impairments by recording readings of books onto Compact Discs (CDs); and assistance to community members without medical aid to help them pay their medical bills.
Mvula said a project at the Philadelphia pre-primary school which runs a soup kitchen for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds, will also be assisted.
