“Our position on the issue of Jerusalem has received international and Arab support, and what we said at the Islamic Summit in Istanbul has distinguished Lebanon and highlighted its unifying role,” President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, told a delegation of the Beirut Bar Association on Friday.
“We’ve succeeded in overcoming the crisis thanks to our national unity and keenness on maintaining stability,” Aoun said.
“Lebanon has held its head up high because it did not cave into pressure,” he added.
On the other hand, President Aoun welcomed at Baabda Palace on Friday South African Ambassador to Lebanon, Sean Edward Benfeldt.
The pair discussed the best means to boost bilateral relations between Lebanon and South Africa.
