Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis stressed the importance of the ratification by the Greek Parliament of the partnership agreements of the EU and its member states with Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan, emphasizing that through these agreements – with countries of a rapidly developing region of the world – “we export principles and values that we attend to in the European Union”, that is, democracy, transparency and respect for human rights. “I believe this is the way for Europe to export this unique accomplishment it has achieved so far: to be an oasis of peace, an oasis of cooperation, an oasis of economic growth, an oasis of human rights and protection of workers’ rights for the past 70 years”, he pointedly said.
