ALGIERS– Algeria will host a high-level meeting on the fight against funding of terrorism in Africa at Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Centre here on Monday and Tuesday next week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
The meeting, which is being co-organized by Algeria and the African Union (AU), will bring together delegations from the member countries of the AU, the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and other international and regional organizations which are engaged in the fight against the funding of terrorism, the Ministry said in a statement here Thursday.
The event, which will also be attended by representatives of five member countries of the United Nations Security Council and Canada, will be opened by Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
Algiers’ counter-terrorism meeting was decided at the Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the AU Peace and Security Council in September 2014 and confirmed at an African Union Summit,” Messahel said.
