WINDHOEK: Thirty Windhoek-based security guards were injured in a road accident when the truck they were travelling in overturned here this morning.
Superintendent Helena Mootseng of the Windhoek City Police and Emergency Management Department told Nampa on enquiry today that 27 security guards were slightly injured, while three more sustained moderate injuries as a result of the accident.
According to Mootseng, the accident took place at about 06h30 this morning when the truck carrying the security guards to their duty stations overturned along Florence Nightingale Street, near the entrance of the Global Fund, in an attempt to avoid hitting another motor vehicle.
All injured security guards were immediately taken to the Windhoek Central Hospital for medical attention.
Police investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident, noted Mootseng.
