WINDHOEK: A total of 26 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol here over the weekend.
Each motorist was released on bail of N.dollars 4 000, said Namibian Police spokesperson Inspector Kauna Shikwambi here yesterday.
Some of the accused are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court and others in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.
Shikwambi further said the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is working hard to trace the whereabouts of Lazarus Shaduka, who was found guilty on a charge of murdering his wife, but fled the country and is now on the run since early December 2012.
Shikwambi said Shaduka is suspected to still be in Angola, but the Namibian Police will do everything possible to apprehend him.
Shaduka, 39, was convicted of murdering his wife Selma Shaimemanya, 33 at the time, in their Klein Windhoek home on 13 July 2008.
