OPUWO: The 21 sampled cattle which were tested for Contagious Bovine Pleuro-Pneumonia (CBPP) at the Otjindjerese village in the Opuwo constituency last Thursday, have been cleared after results from the laboratory returned negative.
The owner of the cattle and the veterinary doctors at Opuwo were all happy about the outcome of the results in the morning hours of Monday when they shared this news.
According to Veterinary Doctor Vimunika Mutjavikua, suspicion about CBPP was too high within the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS), given the history of CBPP cases that had been coming from the area of Okangwati.
Meanwhile, the owner of the 21 cattle which were not diagnosed with CBPP, Kazembatere Mbendura, told Nampa that he was very happy about the outcome.
He then called on his fellow farmers to always vaccinate their cattle, and to adhere to Government vaccination programmes.
