KERUI Petroleum Wins the Largest UPGN Project in Brazil

BEIJING, April 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — In the past few days, the SPE led by Shandong KERUI Petroleum Equipment Limited (hereinafter referred to as “KERUI Petroleum”) has successfully signed with Brazilian Petroleum Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Petrobras) the (UPGN) project worth nearly US$600 million for the gas processing plant in the city of Itaborai in the state of Rio. This is Petrobras’s first public bidding oil project since 2014 and is also the largest natural gas treatment project in Brazil so far. This is of great significance to the development of oil and gas for Petrobras Pre-salt. KERUI Petroleum has become the first and only private enterprise in China to get a Petrobras project in the field of oil engineering. It has set a model for Chinese enterprises to follow on going overseas and creating a golden card of knowledge and expertise representing China.

Metodo Potencial, a Brazilian engineering company, has successfully delivered nearly a hundred projects for Petrobras to promote local market’s development and support projects over the past three decades. It has formed a joint venture with KERUI Petroleum which plays the leading role on the project. Since January 2017, after officially receiving Petrobras’s project bidding documents, KERUI kept going through 9 months of preparation for the best proposal. KERUI Petroleum eventually stood out among the well-known engineering companies from all over the world, with its multiple advantages of modular and standardized design, reduced operating costs and improved project earnings.

The natural gas treatment plant project, won by KERUI Petroleum, will be the largest natural gas treatment plant in Brazil. It will help the state government of Rio to provide over 2,000 local jobs to address unemployment problems. The plant station is mainly used to deal with the associated gas produced in the process of Pre-salt oil development in the Santos basin, which provides a strong guarantee for the normal production of Pre-salt oil in Brazil and is of great significance to the development and increased production of Pre-salt oil. The completion of the plant station has increased the transportation and processing capacity of natural gas from 23 million cubic meters to 44 million cubic meters per day. In addition, the processed natural gas will be used for vehicles and in the industrial sector, which can greatly alleviate Brazil government’s pressure on natural gas imports.

KERUI Petroleum has promoted the friendship between China and Brazil by its own effort and has extended the value chain of a solid Chinese company to the world. It is the representative of private enterprises in the oil and gas field industry going overseas, taking risks, playing fair and establishing a positive reputation of China on the American continent.

North West Tourism emerges victorious at Inter Tourism Games

North West Department of Tourism emerge victorious at the Inter Tourism Games.

Former statesman and apartheid struggle stalwart Nelson Mandela who once said that Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.

This was evident when four countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) namely Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and South Africa represented by North West Department of Tourism converged for their 2018 edition of the Annual Inter Tourism Games held during the past Easter weekend in Gaborone, Botswana.

This is where the North West Department of Tourism emerged as the overall winners of the Inter Tourism Games for the second time in a row. The department represented South Africa and North West Province and has managed to retain their number one spot which they attained in Lesotho last year.

Head of North West Tourism Department, Adv. Neo Sephoti said that it was important to understand that at the end of the day, Tourism within the SADC region should be the real winner and emphasized that official in attendance should carry forward the message of selling SADC as a region and not as individual countries.

Let Tourism within the SADC region be the real winner. We need to start collaborating and formulating conducive partnerships which will create an enabling environment for us to sell our SADC region as one wholesome tourism package. That is possible through gatherings like these where we can network and derive best methods which will enable us to can share tourists, said Adv. Sephoti.

Adv. Sephoti added that these games was not only about countries challenging each other through various sporting codes. She said they were also a platform to forge relations, share best tourism practices and exchange destination marketing tactics. In South Africa we have the Five in Five (5 in 5) tourism strategy where we intend to attract 5 million people in 5 years. As the North West Province we are looking at attracting at least 390 000 people which we can then share with other countries such as Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. When we work together we can even do better than Europe, added Adv. Sephoti.

Meanwhile, North West MEC for Tourism Desbo Mohono, congratulated her team for doing well at the games and said that these games are a real tool for social cohesion between countries. She said that it allows officials to network and create a conducive environment for creating partnerships and building relations.

North West Tourism was the overall winners of the 2018 Inter Tourism Games, they won Gold in both Soccer and Netball, Silver in Tug of War and Bronze in Volleyball. The 2019 games will be held in Mababane, Swaziland.

Government activities for 9 to 15 Apr

Government has scheduled the following briefings/activities for the week 09 � 15 April 2018. The activities, which are aligned to the National Development Plan and outlined in the Medium Term Strategic Framework 2014-2019, are undertaken to build a better South Africa.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on State Funerals led by the Minister in the Presidency, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will on Tuesday, 10 April, brief the nation on the logistical details of the memorial service of the late Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. The Official Memorial Service will be held at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday, 11 April. The funeral service will also be held at the same venue � Orlando Stadium – on Saturday, 14 April, followed by the burial at Fourways Memorial Park Cemetery. From Monday, 09 April, a schedule of memorial events taking place countrywide will be placed on the GCIS website.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies together with Gauteng Premier, Mr David Makhura will officially launch the InvestSA Gauteng One Stop Shop (OSS) on Tuesday, 10 April at the Gauteng Investment Centre in Sandton at 14:00 pm. S. Africa’s Top Court Dismisses Pistorius’ Bid to Appeal Murder Sentence

South Africa’s Constitutional Court has dismissed an application by paralympic gold medalist Oscar Pistorius to appeal his sentence for murdering his girlfriend, legal documents showed on Monday.

Pistorious was initially jailed for six years for shooting dead Reeva Steenkamp, but prosecutors argued that sentence had been “shockingly lenient” and an appeal court agreed in November to more than double the term to 15 years.

Pistorius challenged the appeals court’s ruling in the Constitutional Court.

“The Constitutional Court has considered the application for condonation and leave to appeal. It has concluded that … the application for leave to appeal should be dismissed as it does not engage this court’s jurisdiction,” read the court’s order dated March 28 and made public by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Monday.

The NPA said it was pleased with the order.

“We have always contended as the NPA that their leave to appeal has no prospects of success, and the Constitutional Court has just confirmed that,” NPA spokesman Luvuyo Mfaku said.

Militiamen Kill 5 Park Rangers, Driver in East Congo’s Virunga

Militiamen killed five park rangers and their driver on Monday in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo’s Virunga National Park, one of the world’s last sanctuaries for the endangered mountain gorilla, the national parks director said.

The team came under gunfire around 6 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) while traveling to a base near the Ishasha border crossing with neighboring Uganda, Cosma Wilungula told Reuters.

He said the gunmen were from one of Congo’s ‘Mai-Mai’ militias, which first formed to resist Rwandan invasions in the late 1990s and are known for their magical beliefs.

He had no further details.

Virunga, located in Congo’s troubled North Kivu province, is threatened by dozens of foreign and domestic armed groups that prey on the local population and exploit the area’s rich reserves of timber, gold and other resources.

More than 150 rangers have been killed protecting the park over the last two decades.

Virunga is Africa’s oldest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is home to roughly half the world’s remaining 900 mountain gorillas and was the subject of an Oscar-nominated documentary film in 2014.

The dense forests near the Rwandan and Ugandan borders witnessed some of the fiercest fighting during civil wars around the turn of the century that killed millions, most from hunger and disease. It has also been troubled by periodic insurrections since then.
