Sasol Banyana Banyana’s preparations for the African Women’s Championships continue, with another friendly match against neighbours Zimbabwe, scheduled for this Friday, 11 July.
The international friendly match will be played at the Rufaro Stadium in Harare, kick-off will be at 15h00.
The South African Senior National Women’s team, Sasol Banyana Banyana started their preparations for the Championships with a 4 – 0 win over Botswana last month. They went on to beat the African Women’s Championships hosts, Namibia 2 – 1 this past Saturday, 05 July in Windhoek.
The Sasol sponsored Women’s National team will continue with their camp in Namibia and travel to Zimbabwe on Wednesday, 09 July.
“We need to play more matches before the African Women’s Championships as this will give us an opportunity to keep practising what we have learnt. The ladies know what is expected of them, from here on we have to master what we have learnt. We need to get the team physically ready for an intense high level of play,” said Vera Pauw.
The African Women’s Championships draw will be held on 19th July in Windhoek, as confirmed by CAF. The other partcipating nations are Namibia, Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia.
Sasol Banyana Banyana will continue playing matches ahead of the Championships with the objective of performing well at the tournament and qualifying for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
