LAGOS: THE Afenifere Renewal Group, a pro-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, will on Thursday gather in Abeukota in the Ogun State to discuss the so-called post-crude oil economic development discourse.
Erudite scholar and immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, will deliver a public lecture titled “Before Nigeria’s oil runs dry – options of development in the South-West.” According to Segun Odegbami, Coordinator of the programme, the lecture to be delivered by, is an effort to escalate the discourse within the South-West zone on the state of the nation and provide deeper insight into the place of the South-West post-2015 national general elections.
“The conversation at the lecture will provoke intellectual interrogation on the subject matter, stimulate proper course of action and illuminate the path the zone shall take during the elections,” he said.
The Chairman of the occasion is a distinguished figure of Yorubaland and one of the most respected leaders in the zone, retired Army General, Alani Akinrinade. Odegbami said the event comes up at the June 12 Cultural Centre and the public across the spectra of the political parties, have been invited for the event.
“Everyone interested in the politics and future of the South-West, beyond the political rhetoric of politicians, is invited to the lecture which promises to speak to the real issues, and separate facts from fiction.”
