Wentworth Police Station Crime Prevention members arrested Tevin Morrisson (21) for possession of drugs. It is alleged that members received a tip-off about a male who was in possession of drugs. Members quickly acted on information provided and proceeded to Wooille Road flats in Wentworth.
On their arrival at the flats they spotted a male who fitted the same description that was given to them. Members stopped and searched him and he was found in possession of a plastic containing 170 straws of heroin. He was taken to the police station where he was further questioned. After thoroughly investigation he led the members to his house in Bluff, upon their arrival a search was conducted and a cooler bag containing 500 mandrax tablets and 970 straws of heroin to a street value of R45-000 was found. The accused was charged for possession of drugs and he appeared in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 5 May 2015.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members for the arrest of suspect and seizure of drugs. “I also highly praised that brave community member who contacted the police and provided this genuine information. This is a kind of partnership we require from our communities,” she said.
