The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union calls on all South Africans to take part in tomorrow’s 5th national elections. The country’s democracy and the right of all citizens to vote was hard won and should never be taken for granted by any individual. POPCRU urges voters to put their mark next to the ANC on the ballot paper in both the national and provincial votes. We believe that the African National Congress is the only party in South Africa capable of continuing to aance our dream of a transformed society in which the needs of all people are prioritised equally.
The shape and state of our country has changed dramatically since the ANC was voted into power 20 years ago, and we are confident that positive change will continue to be effected under the ANC rule.
POPCRU also urges all its members in the South African Police Service to be vigilant and ensure that the elections are free and fair. Our members should also safeguard the civil liberties of all citizens to cast a vote for a candidate of their choice.
A successful election will not only demonstrate the strides made in our journey as a nation but our willingness to continue along the same ideal. We rejoice in the knowledge that each of the police officers deployed across the country cherish this fact and will protect it with their lives as they have been sworn in to do so.
The organisation encourages its members to vote the ANC so that the progress made thus far is protected and enabled to continue unabated.
VOTE ANC ON 7 MAY 2014. DO IT FOR MADIBA. DO IT FOR CHRIS HANI!
