Western Cape: Yesterday (Wednesday ,2015-05-27) at about 03:00, police attached to Mitchells Plain arrested 12 suspects aged between ages 18 and 52 years old after a robbery occurred at Tafelsig. According to reports, a business robbery occurred at Rockies Street, Tafelsig, suspects broke a security gate at the complainant’s shop and the owner was awoken by the noise. The complainant confronted the suspects and they pointed him with a firearm. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones, groceries, padlocks and cigarettes. Police received an anonymous tip off and it led to the arrest of the suspects. The stolen goods were recovered, the suspects are due to appear tomorrow (Friday 2015-05-29) at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court for charges of house robbery and possession of presumed stolen property.
In another unrelated incident, police arrested an 18-year-old man for house robbery which occurred yesterday morning (Tuesday, 205-05-27) in Kunene Street, Portlands. According to information, the suspect entered the house of the complainant and threatened her with a knife. The suspect took a cell phone worth R 1 900, 00 before fleeing the scene on foot. With the assistance of the community safety structures in Portlands, the suspect was apprehended the same day in the nearby street. The suspect will appear tomorrow (Friday, 2015-05-29) in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on a charge relating to house robbery.
