On Friday Morning (20141205) at about 08:45, members of the Maitland Flying Squad followed up on information received from a member of the public regarding drugs stored at business premises in Voortrekker Road, Maitland. After permission was granted to the police to search the premises, they soon discovered 63 bags each containing Mandrax powder, as well as 18 plastic bags containing methamphetamine (tik) and three scales.
A 52-year-old man believed to be also the manager of the business was arrested on charges relating to dealing in drugs. The suspect is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday 08 December 2014.
