The Economic Freedom Fighters sends its revolutionary condolences to the family, friends and comrades of the isithwalandwe Mama Ruth Mompati who has left us at the age of 89. Mama Mompati will be remembered for her selfless service to the liberation struggle. She is indeed a stalwart who was always on the ground and never for selfish, careerist and opportunistic reasons.
During the course of her life in the struggle she was never found in the destructive factional battles of position mongering. She was also never in the pockets of private capital, domestically or internationally, who tried to use her influence in their interest. These are critical lessons she is leaving behind.
The EFF salutes her and the mighty generation of women who fought apartheid in the 1950s to its knees. She is those souls that gender parity never awarded a role in the struggle. She earned this role due to her bravery and selflessness.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
