JOHANNESBURG: NIGERIA has postponed Saturday’s friendly international between the Under 17 football team and their South African counterparts. It is feared the ongoing terror might have led to the postponement.
“South African Men’s Under-17 National Team, Amajimbos’ friendly international against Nigeria which was scheduled to take place in the West African country on Saturday, 17 January 2015 has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control,” the South African Football Association stated on Wednesday.
An official said the match will be rescheduled. The postponement of the match initially scheduled for Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna comes amid escalating terror perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect. It is reported more than 2 000 lives have been lost this year alone.
