Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Task Team members arrested two suspects for possession of drugs. It is alleged that yesterday, 5 May 2015 at approximately 20:30, the members were patrolling in the Umbilo area when they noticed a suspicious looking man along Umbilo Road, Bulwer. A 31-year-old male was then searched and five packets of heroin were found in his possession. The total value of the recovered drugs is R1750-00. He was arrested and charged for possession of drugs. He was then detained at Umbilo police station.
At about 21:45, police proceeded to Keits Avenue in Bulwer where a 29-year-old female was found with a big parcel of heroin with an estimated value of R25 000. She was also arrested and charged for possession of drugs. Both suspects are appearing today, 6 May 2015 in the Durban Magistrates’ Court.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for working tirelessly in rooting out drugs in the province. “We will continue with these operations to eliminate drug trade and drug use in our province because the use of drugs is crippling our youth,” she said.
