The SAPS Dog Unit in East London arrested a 51-year-old suspect today, at about 11:00 at NU 15 in Mdantsane.
A joint operation between the East London K9 Unit and Intelligence Unit has resulted in the seizure of Mandrax tablets. Police seized large quantities of drugs which included 3 208 Mandrax tablets valued at R19200-00 and an undisclosed amount of cash. The exhibits were found hidden in a room.
A 51-year-old woman was arrested and taken into custody she is facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs. The suspect is due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Mdantsane Cluster Commander, Brigadier Stanley Bennett, said that this operation demonstrated the importance of information sharing between the police and our communities. “Criminals that think that Mdantsane is a place to deal with drugs must think twice. They will continue to find it harder to do their business in Mdantsane.”
