Sudan to Resolve Conflicts Peacefully – President

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday vowed to achieve sustainable peace in his country and peacefully resolve all conflicts in Sudan.

“Our country is passing through exceptional circumstances that necessitate us to work together to address the standing challenges, promote stability and co-existence and establish the mechanisms of governance,” al-Bashir said when addressing a regular meeting for Sudan’s strategic planning council on Sunday.

“We will work to ensure sustainable peace, peacefully resolve the conflicts, develop the national dialogue, avail the opportunity before rational political exercise, indigenize the defensive components and organize the foreign diplomacy,” al-Bashir added.

He further urged all the political forces to involve in the national dialogue initiative, saying “the national dialogue is a strategic prospect … not just a tactic goal.

Al-Bashir reiterated his country’s keenness on establishing external relations based on common interests and flexibility and balance without subjugating the will or interference in others’ affairs.

“We are looking forward to external ties that serve the issues of peace and development and achieve international peace and security,” he noted.

Last January al-Bashir launched an initiative for a national dialogue to end the country’s conflicts. A joint committee of the government and the opposition parties was formed to arrange the dialogue, and has managed to reach agreements with the armed movements and the opposition abroad to join the dialogue. – SAnews.gov.za-Xinhua
