On Tuesday, 19 May 2015, at about 19:00 members from Upper Tugela Borderline Control were busy with crime prevention activities along the DukuzaBergville road.
They spotted a suspicious mini bus with six passengers inside. After stopping and searching the vehicle, they discovered three large bags of dagga. All six suspects, aged between 26 and 43, were arrested for the possession of dagga. The dagga weighed in at around 55 kg and has a street value of around R60 000-00. The quantum mini bus that they were using has been seized. The suspects are set to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s court today on charges of possession of dagga.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the members for the arrests of the suspects. “These operation has yielded positive results and we are very proud of the hard wok displayed by members involved. We will continue throughout the province to make sure those who break the law are brought into book,” she said.
