The South African Men’s Under-17 National Team (Amajimbos), arrived safely in Botswana for two friendly matches scheduled for today and Sunday.
The first clash takes place today, Thursday (4 July) at the National Stadium in Gaborone and will kick off at 15h00.
Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki said he was looking forward to his charges playing Botswana.
“This will be their first time playing together at this level. So what I would like to see, with the focus on Tanzania of course, is their reaction when leading or when trailing,” said Ntseki.
“These reactions will give an indication of what we need to work on going forward. I am also happy that we will be playing four matches before we get to Tanzania as this will assist in us getting into good shape. I would also like to see their reaction from the time they receive the last instructions in the dressing room to when they execute them on the field.”
Ntseki said he would like to thank neighbours Botswana for accommodating his team adding he was happy with the way preparations for the two friendly matches had gone.
After the Botswana encounters, the Under 17 will move to Lesotho for two more friendly matches.
The friendly matches are part of Amajimbos’ preparations for the crucial African Youth Championship qualifier against Tanzania, which will be played on Friday, 18 July 2014 in Dar es Salaam.
The second clash with Botswana will take place on Sunday, 7 July.
