A relentless manhunt for an 18year-old man wanted for murder, paid off when he was arrested in Diepsloot Extension Nine during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The teenager was sought for allegedly stabbing and fatally wounding a 45-year-old man in the same extension on Saturday evening.
Soon after the incident was reported on Saturday night, the manhunt was launched. The police searched for the suspect at different spots, including his place of residence, where he was arrested on the tracing team’s third visit at about 2:30am
The suspect is said to have intervened during an argument between the deceased and the suspect’s friend. He allegedly produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim on the upper body.
The deceased was certified by paramedics on arrival at the local fire station.
The suspect will be charged with murder.
He is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
