A case of rape was opened at Warrenton Police Station for investigation on 24 January 2015 after police received a complaint that a 6-year-old girl was raped by her uncle (31). According to information the mother of the child walked in on the suspect raping the 6-year-old girl. A case of rape was opened and the suspect was consequently arrested.
During the investigation the police recovered a firearm with one magazine with no rounds. The suspect could not provide police with a license to possess the firearm. The suspect alleged he got the firearm from a vehicle he repaired three years ago. The suspect does not know the owner of the vehicle as well as to whom the firearm allegedly belong to. The firearm was confiscated and a case of unlawful possession of a firearm was opened against the suspect.
The suspect appeared in court today on both charges and the case has been postponed until 03 February 2015 for formal bail application.
