PSL breaks for Xmas, Afcon

JOHANNESBURG: THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign will take a break of almost two months to make way for the festive season and the Africa Cup of Nations.

There will be a number of midweek matches before then beginning Tuesday with Polokwane City hosting the University of Pretoria at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium while logleaders Kaizer Chiefs clash with Free State Stars before their Saturday tie against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Elsewhere, Ajax Cape Town, smarting from a 4-0 humiliation by Orlando Pirates will host AmaZulu in Cape Town, Maritzburg United host defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Also on Tuesday evening, Moroka Swallows host in Orlando Pirates in the original Soweto Derby at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Platinum Stars host Chippa United while onform Bidvest Wits host SuperSport United at Bidvest Wits in Braamfontein.

On Wednesday, Aces will host Bloemfontein Celtic.

All clubs will be back in action on Saturday with Free State Stars entertaining Platinum Stars while Sundowns play Ajax in Pretoria.

Bottom-placed AmaZulu entertainSwallows in Durban as Pirates host Celtic in Soweto.

Polokwane City clash with Maritzburg at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Africa Cup of Nations will roll into action a few weeks later in Equatorial Guinea.
