Youth development, economic participation, transformation and education are set to come under the spotlight when President Jacob Zuma convenes the inaugural meeting of the Presidential Youth Working Group this morning.
President Zuma will meet with representatives of youth organisations to discuss, among others, the National Youth Policy which aims to respond to unemployment, a lack of skills as well as access to health care and drug abuse.
The session, according to the Presidency, will discuss various issues related to the socio-economic development and empowerment of the youth in the country, at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse, in Pretoria. These include nation building and social cohesion, effective and responsive youth development institutions.
Launched in 2013, the Youth Working Group serves as a youth sector stakeholder platform which brings together government and youth formations to enable the youth to participate in shaping policy at the highest level.
The youth delegates represent various sectors, including professional associations, agriculture, business, education and skills development, religious sector and organisations working in the realm of social development. – SAnews.gov.za
