LAGOS: A pre-election survey recently conducted by a regional polling agency suggests incumbent Kaduna State Government, Muhktar Yero, trails his closest rival, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
According to the ANAP Foundation, the non-profit organization, there is a 26 percent gap between the two contenders from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NOIPolls, the regional polling agency conducted the poll for ANAP Foundation. El-Rufai led the list of candidates with 46 percent, while Governor Yero had 20 percent.
According to the organizations, however, 23 percent of those polled are undecided as to their choice of candidate; and could be key in deciding a winner.
The survey results also show that youth between the ages of 18-29 years and the working class between the ages 30-45 and 46-60 were more inclined to vote for Nasir ElRufai, while the senior citizens who fall in the 61+ age group were more inclined to vote for Yero.
The survey also shows that almost 90 percent of eligible voters are registered to vote in the February elections, with about a similar percentage being absolutely certain that they will vote.
