The Bayelsa State Police Command yesterday announced the lifting of ban on political campaigns in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Asinim Butswat.
The statement said the command has beefed up security in the state with increased vehicular and foot patrols in order to ensure hitch-free political campaigns.
It also said the police would carry out intensive surveillance around the venues of rallies.
While calling on members of the public and party supporters to co-operate with security operatives and give useful information to the police, the statement advised party supporters to desist from disrupting activities of perceived political opponents.
It warned that the police would deal decisively with any person or group of persons who engage in unscrupulous acts.
