ABUJA: THE Ondo State Command denied media reports a police officer died during a sex romp. According to a statement signed by Wole Ogodo, Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command in Akure, the report was “false, baseless, unfounded, ill-motivated and complete imagination of the writer.”
“The attention of the Ondo State Police Command has been drawn to the publication of the Sunday vanguard, Page 8 of 20th July, 2014, captioned “Police Officer dies in sex romp”. The command wishes to inform the general public that the entire story is false, baseless, unfounded, ill-motivated and complete imagination of the writer,” Ogodo stated.
Ogodo argued it was an Inspector of Police who reported sick by himself at the Station at llutitun and conveyed in a patrol vehicle to hospital and not in a woman’s house as alleged.
“He died on the way to hospital which could happen to anybody including the writer. It was an Inspector that died and not an AssistantSuperintendent of Police. It should also be noted that no woman was arrested in connection with the death of any Police Officer in Ilutitun,” Ogodo said.
He said the writer of the story did not conduct any investigation but based his story on figment of his imagination. He added that the Command counseled the press men to always conform to the ethics of investigative journalism.
“The command further assured the good people of Ondo State of adequate protection of lives and property,” said Ogodo.
