Plateau politicians in rare show of unity

ABUJA: ONE of the defeated aspirants in last week’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primaries in Plateau State, Exo Nandom Pennap, has pledged his support to the eventual winner.

He has visited the winner, Gyang Nyam Pwajok, and pledged his “unflinching support and loyalty.” Pennap, who was accompanied by his supporters, said the victory of Pwajok was a reflection of his hardwork and popularity within the party and therefore wished him and the party a resounding success in the forthcoming elections.

He said his visit was to congratulate Pwajok and to give him and the PDP the assurance that he would work hard to ensure the party attained victory in the general elections.

“We cannot afford to fail, we don’t need to be afraid of anything, we most work tirelessly towards attaining victory,” said Pennap.

“I also want to use this opportunity to call on other contestants and the people of Plateau to support our great party in the 2015 elections as PDP remains the only credible party that will continue the redemption work on the Plateau,” he said.

Pwajok thanked the visitors and stressed that he was ready to work with everybody in line with his slogan, “Greater Together.” “Regardless of where we come from or where God has placed us we must be ready to act together towards a greater Plateau,” said the legislator.

Pwajok defeated 15 aspirants, including the incumbent Deputy Governor, Ignatius Longjang, to clinch the keenly contested gubernatorial ticket of the party in the state.
