ABUJA: THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dimsised suggestions party politicians had defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Plateau State.
The party attributed said the so-called defections were plans by APC to “play a game of deceit.” The State Acting Chairman of the ruling party, Raymond Dabo, said officials who allegedly defected from the PDP to the APC at Jos Township Stadium were former members who decided they wanted to return to the PDP.
“But we insisted they follow due process knowing they were coming with the plans of destabilizing the party,” Dabo argued.
This publication established that Dame Pauline Tallen, a former deputy governor who contested the governorship of the state under the Labour Party in 2011, led the said defectors.
Dabo described the action of Tallen and her alleged cohorts as “an act of desperation and part of desperate machination of the APC to misinform the wise voting people of Plateau State.” “The paraded defectors are renowned political prostitutes,” he said.
“As far as our party, PDP is concerned the purported defection is of no consequence. We are bold to say this because these characters have long lost their reckoning in the political landscape in the state. When last did any of them attend even ordinary ward meeting in their constituencies? Since they have contributed nothing to the party in the first place, their so-called defection is a mere fancy. As far as we are concerned they have publicly gone back to where they belong.”
