The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has attributed the relative peace in the state to the laudable efforts of the state police command.
The NUJ chairman in the state, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun, made the remark while receiving the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, DSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, at the Press Centre.
Opadotun, who noted that there was peace in the state especially during the just-concluded Christmas and New Year festivities lauded the police command for putting up a water-tight security arrangement.
He called for sustenance of the efforts to ensure free, fair and credible elections in the state next month.
The NUJ chairman also appealed to the state command to accord journalists in the state due regard in the course of discharging their duties to sustain the cordial relationship between the command and NUJ members in the state.
The new PPRO commended the leadership of the state council of the NUJ for being proactive and professional in the discharge of its duties.
DSP Ajisebutu assured the people that the command would sustain the peaceful atmosphere during and after the general elections.
